Understanding The Arc Chapters in South Carolina
In South Carolina, there are four distinct chapters of The Arc, each dedicated to supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in unique ways. These chapters work collaboratively yet independently to ensure that the diverse needs of the community are met.
Our Identity: The Arc of South Carolina
At The Arc of South Carolina, our primary mission is to empower individuals with IDD through comprehensive statewide case management services. As the state headquarters, we are fervently advocating for the rights and full participation of all children and adults with IDD. Our core services focus on delivering personalized support to address the holistic needs of the individuals and families we serve, ensuring they can achieve their fullest potential.
Our Chapters' Specialized Focus Areas
The Arc of the Midlands: Specializes in providing job skills training and employment opportunities. Operating under their own governance, their mission is distinct from ours, focusing on preparing individuals with IDD for the workforce and securing meaningful employment.
The Arc of the Low Country: Dedicated to continuing education and family financial management planning. This chapter emphasizes the importance of lifelong learning and financial independence, offering programs designed to enhance these critical skills.
The Arc of Oconee County: Aims to help people with IDD gain greater independence through family support and advocacy, community projects, and recreational programs. Their efforts are geared towards building a more inclusive community where individuals with IDD can enjoy a fulfilling and independent life.
Our Commitment
We, at The Arc of South Carolina, are committed to excellence, accountability, and the dignity of every person we support. Our team of dedicated professionals works tirelessly to ensure that the services we provide are
of the highest quality and tailored to the unique needs of those we serve.
Clarifying the Difference
While all chapters are affiliated with The Arc of the US, it's important to recognize that we operate as entirely separate entities with distinct missions. This distinction is vital for families and individuals seeking assistance, as it enables them to find the support that best meets their needs.
